3LCD says that its chips are key components driving the majority of projectors in classrooms and home theaters. 3LCD technology first came to market in 1989. 3LCD says that it has a 6.3-point unit share lead over its competitors in Q1 2008.
A key feature of the 3LCD technology is that it has no moving parts making it more reliable than other projector technologies. 3LCD technology is also used in flat panel TVs in addition to projectors.
