Sony announced the HDR-CX12 HD camcorder yesterday. The Sony HDR-CX12 is the first high-definition camcorder with both smile shutter and face detection technologies.
On the Japanese press-release Sony published a video demonstrating the Sony HDR-CX12. The video shows how the smile shutter works and what is displayed on the screen.

Other features of the Sony HDR-CX12 include Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 12x optical zoom, super steady shot, 2.7-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus screen and Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound recording.
The HDR-CX12 camcorder will be in stores in early August for about $900 including a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark2).
