Since last Monday the Wii has been in stock for the $249.99 price on Amazon.com on a regular basis based on my monitoring. It looks like the dry spell has ended and right now the Wii supply is up to par with the demand in the US. This might change again getting closer to the Holidays, so buy it now, as discounts or sales are very unlikely on the Wii console.
The latest production increase of 30% could have been enough to make the Wii available on a broader scale in the US.
The Wii has now been on the market for three Holiday seasons. Right now should be the time to get discounts on the Wii console, but instead we are happy just to be able to buy it at the original price. Maybe next Christmas we will see the Wii console under $200, by then we might be actually wanting the Wii HD.
The Xbox 360 went the normal path and is right now actually cheaper than the Wii.
