SIGGRAPH is the gathering of the world's best computer animation people. Every year the SIGGRAPH hands out prizes for the best computer animations.
The SIGGRAPH 2008 Best of Show award goes to Oktapodi (photo), by Gobelins, l'école de l’image, France. See also the Oktapodi site. You can see the Oktapodi film on Youtube.
The Best Student Piece Winner goes also to France for 893 by Supinfocom.
The Jury Award goes to Mauvais Role by École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle, again France.
The Best Well Told Fable Prize goes to
Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen, Germany.

SIGGRAPH 2008 brings an estimated 30,000 computer graphics and interactive technology professionals from six continents to Los Angeles, California, USA for the industry's most respected technical and creative programs focusing on research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education, and the web from Monday, August 11th through Friday, August 15th 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Celebrating its 35th year, SIGGRAPH 2008 includes a three-day exhibition of products and services from the computer graphics and interactive marketplace from August 12th-14th 2008. More than 230 international exhibiting companies are in attendance. Registration for the conference and exhibition is open to the public.
