Sony announced a new version of the PSP dubbed PSP-3000. The first one available in the United States will be in the Limited Edition Ratchet and Clank Entertainment Pack. The pack features a silver PSP-3000, Ratchet and Clank Size Matters game, echochrome game, National Treasure 2 UMD, and 1GB memory stick.
The new Sony PSP-3000 has a brighter screen that is more usable outdoors and an integrated microphone.
Gifting someone with the newest version of an established product shows knowledge. The pack contains everything needed to get started and have fun during the Holidays.
The Sony PSP is still going to sell strong especially as companion for the Sony PS3 and the new online Video store. The UMD movie distribution is not really going anywhere, but downloading a movie and having the ability to also watch it on the PSP on the go does make a lot of sense.
For Whom:
The PSP is for everyone who likes to play games, but also those who like to play music and watch movies on a portable device. It is also a great addition for PS3 owners.
The Good:
The best screen on a portable game console
The best graphics on a portable game console
Great interoperability with Sony PS3
Great Media Player
The Bad:
Rather large for true portability
UMD Movies are too expensive
No integrated storage, needs memory sticks
Where to Buy:
The new Sony PSP-3000 ships first inside the Ratchet and Clank Entertainment pack, which is available on Amazon.com for pre-order. It ships on October 31st with a price of $199.99.
