Logitech has announced its latest Squeezebox network music player called the Squeezebox Boom. The Boom has an integrated amp, high-performance speakers, and simple setup. The portable system only needs to be plugged into an AC outlet and your PC based music collection can be streamed with no problems anywhere in the home.

The Boom will automatically find available networks and supports password protected networks. Multiple Squeezebox Boom players can operate on one network and allow users to listen to different music at the same time. Wi-Fi connectivity with the Boom is 802.11g and it has dual antennas. The Boom will be available in September for $299.99.

"The network music player will be the CD player of the 21st century, and Squeezebox Boom is the first player in its class to deliver high-quality audio in a compact, all-in-one design," said Robin Selden, vice president and general manager of Logitech's Streaming Media business unit. "From the streamlined setup to the breakthrough acoustics, the Squeezebox Boom is an entirely new type of network music player. Just plug it in and you're ready to rock the house."
