More and more low-cost Blu-ray Players enter the market. 2009 could be the year that Blu-ray players break the $100 barrier. At the Black Friday 2008 Sales mania Blu-ray Players were on sale for as low as $128.
The new Amex BD-P1 Blu-ray player has an MSRP of $199. The Amex BD-P1 supports both single- and dual-layer BD-R and BD-RE discs, as well as BD-ROM discs, and provides decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS formats.
Other features of the BD-P1 Blu-ray player include Ethernet port, USB 2.0 port, 10-bit/108MHz video digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion, 24-bit/192kHz and audio digital-to-analog (D/A)converter. It looks like Amex is not supporting BD Live at the moment, but is able to upgrade the BD-P1 with firmware updates.
