Apple iLife '09 Shipping Today

Apple has begun shipping iLife '09 today, which offers major upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand for $79 as an upgrade. The application is also being included with the purchase of new Mac computers.

Major changes include the ability to automatically organize photos on iPhoto by events, faces, and places. The software uses face recognition, face detection, and can geo tag images as well. New features in iMovie include a Precision Editor, video stabilization, advanced drag and drop, and animated travel maps.

Changes to Garage Band include a new way to help you learn to play piano and guitar with 18 different basic lessons from top artists. Another application in the iLife suite is iWeb for creating websites and iDVD for creating DVDs. A family pack with five licenses for the new application will be offered for $99.
