Spotify, the free music streaming service which is going in strength and had great publicity recently on Channel fives "The Gadget Show" is now looking to broaden it's market with a launch into the mobile phone platform.
Spotify's chief executive Daniel Ek has revealed to Revolution Magazine that the company is in early stages of making a deal with mobile phone operators.Spotify Spokesperson told The Telegraph: “It’s no secret that mobile is something we want to develop in the future - it's the most requested feature from our users. We’re excited about platforms such as the iPhone and other devices as they enable third-party developers such as ourselves to develop interesting functionality. It’s good for the mobile industry in general if it becomes more open and we see people use mobile services a lot more. However, we want to make sure that we can provide a simple service that is just as easy to use as the computer version so we won't release anything until it's done right.”
I had never tried Spotify until I saw it in action on 'The Gadget Show' but now i find myself using it every day and think it is a great music listening solution and look forward to a mobile version on the iphone coming soon.
