The Palm Pre launches on Saturday, just two days before Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone. The timing is already quite cocky. If you add the recently unveiled capability of the Palm Pre to sync with Apple iTunes, then you should expect Apple to have an answer ready for Palm.
Earlier rumors pointed to a new iPhone that launches June 17th. Walt Mossberg in his Palm Pre review says new iPhone likely is coming within a month. This would put a release date for the new iPhone latest in early July, maybe even still in June.
I could imagine Apple doing everything to pull in the launch date of the new iPhone. This could be especially painful if the rumored low inventory of the Palm Pre turns out to be true.
I find it great that Palm managed to come to the smartphone game with a handset that can rival the iPhone. This keeps Apple on its toes and gives us better iPhones faster.
