Some lucky fellow from Encino, California got his hands on a whole mess of Palm Pres and, in true Internet form, he's selling them on Ebay. The price? $899.99, for a phone you'll be able to purchase legally in less than 24 hours. I'm not sure why someone would pay hundreds of dollars over retail price for something that will be out everywhere tomorrow.
If you are the kind of person who wants to spend $900 on a phone, you might be out of luck anyway. The listing has been removed for one of two reasons. Either someone at Palm found out and demanded the auctions be removed, or the seller received a bunch of private offers.
The important thing about all this is we now know what the Palm Pre's packaging will look like! Sure, it hits stores tomorrow, but there's no reason we can't add a little extra agonizing anticipation to the big event.
It's easy to see that Palm's Jon Rubinstein is a former Apple exec; both packages look alot alike. I guess that's just another eerie similiarity between the Pre and an Apple product.
