New iPod Touch 2009 rumored

The Apple rumor mill has no brakes and just when we have our new iPhone 3G S phones in our hands the rumors about a new iPod touch 2009 kick in.
The source of the rumor about a new iPod touch 3G (3rd Generation) is actually Apple's fault. The final release of the new iPhone 3.0 software update contains the string "iPod3,1" according to MacRumors and a iPod touch fans forum post. The current iPod touch is identified by "iPod2,1".

The "iPod3,1" string has been discovered in pre-releases of the 3.0 iPhone software before along with iPhone model strings.
The current iPod touch 2G was revealed last September. It is a somewhat safe bet that a new iPod touch will be released this coming September.
