Palm Pre: $99 At Best Buy [Update]

Okay, Palm fans, you all owe Apple a big 'thank you'. By lowering the price of the iPhone 3G to $99 they're forcing other manufacturers to respond in kind. That's why the Palm Pre is on sale now for just $99 (with a contract) at Best Buy.

$99 Price has been a mistake on Best Buy's side. The Palm Pre price is still $199.

No mail-in rebate, no hassle, just a Benjamin and a Sprint data/calling plan. That's as good a deal as you're likely to find on any smartphone. If you've ever wanted a Palm Pre, now would be a good time to buy. There's been no word yet as to whether or not this will be a permanent change, but I think that is very likely. Apple's created a new standard in price, and that is good news for all of us.
