Motorola has announced the launch of a new android development resource called MOTODEV that features a new app accelerator program. The MOTODEV program offers developers early access to a new suite of Android developer tools and programs along with the opportunity to attend MOTODEV summit in California.

The goal of the program is to provide developers a head start in creating apps that will realize the full power of Android and use new handset features from Motorola. Among the features of the program are early access to tools and other resources, pre-release access to coming Motorola devices, direct access to developer support engineers via discussion boards, and more market exposure on new mobile devices when they ship to users.

"Motorola is focused on helping our global network of best-in-class developers create, deploy and successfully market their Android applications to ultimately unleash greater innovation into the mobile application development space," said Christy Wyatt, Vice President, Software Platforms and Ecosystem, Motorola. "We believe Android and open software has the freedom and flexibility to foster innovation, accelerate time to market, and deliver the most personal and customized mobile experiences for consumers."
