Microsoft's never been one to waste time when it comes to borderline plagiarism. They've already signed leases for the first two locations in their new line of Microsoft Stores. These initial stores will be located in Scottsdale, Arizona and Mission Veijo, California. These stores, and many others yet to come, will be positioned to compete directly with Apple Stores in the area.
Former Apple real estate chief George Blankenship may have been hired as a consultant to help Microsoft place their new stores advantageously. If so, that gives Apple one more thing to worry about.
The new Microsoft Stores are being billed as a combination store, help center, and LAN gaming hub. There will be a 'Guru Bar', similar to Apple's Genius Bar, a huge wraparound monitor that encircles the store, tons of demos, and even options to rent the store out for birthday parties. The first of these new stores are set to open this fall, timed to coincide with the October 22nd release of Windows 7.
