Another Apple patent has leaked out into the Internet, and this one is for a revolutionary new nano-style phone. This new mobile phone will feature a display screen on one side, and a force sensitive touchscreen on the other side. While holding Nano-style iPhone, you'll imput commands on the back side of the phone and view media, the Internet, or the content of text messages on the display side.
It's possible that the backside will have either an etched-in clickwheel, or a display clickwheel. When doing things like typing in numbers or text, your finger on the back of the phone will be shown as a cursor on the front. Apple's new design isn't the simplest out there, but it does open up a lot of new control possibilities.
This might be Apple's first stab at a 'budget' mobile phone. The iPhone Nano looks much smaller, and presumably will be much less capable, than the current iPhone. Perhaps this design is Apple's attempt to streamline the mobile phone and offer something with the functionality of a low-end smartphone/high end cell phone and a totally unique, intuitive control scheme.
Only time will tell if this is a serious design from Apple, or if this is just yet another patent that will never see the light of day as a product.
