IO Data Japan has announced a new product called the SEG Clip that is a TV recording device that can be used to save recorded programs to the iPhone or iPod touch. The device is used in conjunction with a TV tuner equipped PC to record programs.

An app store app that is free is required to view the recorded files. The SEG Clip connects to the PC using a USB port and the device can also send video to the PSP if desired. An external antenna is available to give the device better reception.

Video is recorded at 15fps and interpolation is used to reach 30 fps and the manufacturer promises smooth video playback. The device supports computers using Vista or XP and it is available now in Japan. There is no word on US availability at this time.
