Verbatim has announced its latest Insight Portable USB hard drives. The drives feature glossy and attractive housings and connect to computers via a single USB port. The LCD display on the front of the drives is always on and calculates how much storage space is left on the drive.

The display makes it easy to see when your drive is getting full without having to connect it to a computer to find out. Verbatim will offer the drives in 320GB and 500GB capacities and the display is 32 x 128 pixels.

Both drive capacities ship with Nero BackItUp Essentials software that allows for full, automatic backup and restore functionality. The drives measure 6 x 3.4 x 0.63 inches and weigh less than six ounces. The drive inside the shiny black case is a 2.5-inch 5400 rpm unit and both versions are USB powered needing no external power adapter. The 320GB version sells for $119.99 and the 500GB sells for $149.99.
