Reading comic books used to be only for nerds. But, just like video games, Lord of the Rings, and using Nerf guns as adults, they've come to be accepted by the general public as awesome. That's why Panelfly has created a comic book reader for the iPhone OS. This reader app is currently the only comic book reader in all of iTunes, according to Cool Hunting.
From everything we've seen so far, it looks like a pretty solid app. Panelfly has a mobile store which has titles from a variety of publishers. NBM, SLG, Sterling, and others all sell comics through the Panelfly store. The app itself lets you use your iPhone in landscape mode, for more comfortable comic viewing. It also automatically sorts them into an alphabetized library.
You can download Panelfly from iTunes now. The app costs $2, and most comics cost $3 a piece. That's not a bad deal, especially compared to normal comic store prices. This app is a pretty solid investment for any comic nerd, although I have to agree with Gizmodo, it's much better suited for the iTablet. Comic book apps won't truly come into their own until we have full-sized tablet computers that let you view the whole page at once, in glorious high-def color.
