For the last few months we've been hearing rumors about Acer's mysterious new Android smartphone. According to Engadget, our wait is now nearly over. The Acer A1 is now available for pre-order on Expansys. No release date information is out yet, but since it's now up for pre-order I'd be highly surprised if it doesn't launch before the end of October.
The A1 easily qualifies as the most powerful Android smartphone on the market. It has a 768 MHz Qualcomm processor and 512 MB of ROM/256 MB of RAM. The screen is a 3.5-inch WVGA, and the camera is 5 MP with auto-focus. The A1 costs roughly $571 on its own. Carrier support and pricing have yet to be announced.
