Best Buy and Netflix announced this week that the new Insignia Advanced Series Blu-ray Player NS-WBRDVD and the Insignia Connected Blu-ray Player NS-BRDVD3 (photo) are streaming Netflix movie rentals.
Both new Insignia Blu-ray players are Internet ready, giving Netflix members on an unlimited plan access to a growing library to watch instantly on their TV. The Insignia Advanced Series model uses built-in Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet while the Insignia Connected player uses an Ethernet connection.
Netflix streaming is gaining more and more distribution on Blu-ray players, TVs and other boxes. It is a genius strategy from Netflix to strike all these partnerships with consumer electronics makers.
Insignia NS-BRDVD3
The Insignia NS-BRDVD3 Blu-ray Disc player supports 1080p output and BD-Live content along with NetFlix streaming.
Other features include upconverting, Dolby TrueHD decoder, HDMi, USB port and Ethernet port.
The Insignia NS-BRDVD3 connected Blu-ray player sells for only $149.99 on the Best Buy site.
Insignia NS-WBRDVD
The Insignia NS-WBRDVD with Wifi capability competes with the great LG BD 390 Blu-ray player (I just got that one). The prices have already dropped on both players. The Insignia NS-WBRDVD sells for $199.99, while the LG BD390 is currently down to $237.98 on Amazon.com.
Features of the Insignia NS-WBRDVD include DVD upscaler, Dolby True HD and DTS Master decoder, USB, Wifi, Ethernet port, Netflix streaming and BD-Live.
Internet ready Blu-ray players with movie rental streaming from Netflix are going to be hitting $100 on Black Friday, if the prices continue to drop as they have already. The LG BD 370 was already down to $150 a week ago.
If you still do not have a Netflix account you can try it for free Here. Over 11 million already have a Netflix account.
Some good choices, especially “The Assassination of Jesse James,” which I think is the best film of the aughts. Another gem is “American Psycho,” which, I swear, is the autobiography of a guy I worked with for over a decade. Then there’s “The Virgin Suic ...

Apple's stock may seem expensive at more than $500 a share, but it's still a good bargain when you look at its earnings growth. First things first. The $500 threshold is a meaningless level. If Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) chose to announce a 10-for-1 stock ...
