Netflix announced their earnings (pdf) yesterday. The movie rental company Netflix ended the third quarter of 2009 with approximately 11,109,000 total subscribers, representing 28% year-over-year growth from 8,672,000 total subscribers at the end of the third quarter of 2008.
Revenue for the third Quarter was $423.1 million, up 24% from last year. Besides solid numbers Netflix unveiled some interesting things at the earnings call according to NewTeeVee.

42% of Netflix subscribers have used the streaming service during the last quarter which is up 22% from last year.
Of course now Netflix is available on many more devices than it was a year ago.

Speaking of that, Netflix will announce yet another consumer electronics partner this year. According to Netflix CEO Hastings the new partner has a "material installed base". The first thing that comes to mind that has a sizable install base is game consoles. The Wii and the PS3 have been rumored for quite a while to be getting Netflix enabled like the Xbox 360 is today. Netflix could also just mean with the new CE partner Sony. Netflix announced a partnership in summer, but the connected Bravia TVs and the new Sony BDP-N460 Blu-ray player are not yet supporting Netflix.

NewTeeVee also says that Netflix is also planning to offer its streaming movie service internationally starting in 2010. I am all ready for it with the new LG BD390 that arrived this week.
