Gigabyte's M1305 Notebook Has External Graphics Card
Every once in a while, manufacturers try something that's actually new. Take Gigabyte. They've just announced a new ultra-thin notebook, the M1305. The laptop itself only packs an Intel 4500MHD integrated GPU, which draws very little power but can't handle very much. The M1305 also has a docking station, which includes an NvidiaGeForce GT220 discrete graphics card and hook-ups for an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
Pick up this Gigabyte machine and a decent monitor, and you've effectively got both a notebook, and a desktop. Unplug the M1305 and slip it into your bag for ultra-portablecomputing on the go, or plug it into the dock to use your monitor and the GeForce graphics card. This is definitely one of the neater ideas for an ultraportable we've seen.Unfortunately, innovation comes at a price. Converted from New Taiwan Dollars, the M1305 is set to cost around $1200. We'll probably see that price drop a fair amount before this machine comes to the states, but I wouldn't expect it to end up costing much less than $1000.

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
