News of the Cowon W2 first leaked out back in October of 2009, and the MID was on display at CES 2010 earlier this month. Now, thanks to Akihabara News we know the details and launch date for this brushed-aluminum bad boy.
On January 25th, the Cowon W2 will hit stores in Korea. Presumably, it will spread to other markets after that. Cowon wouldn't have made such a big deal about this tablet at CES 2010 if they didn't intend to try for more than just Korea. The W2 will come in two different sizes and two different versions. You can choose 60 GB or 80 GB and normal or Premium models. What differentiates "premium" from normal is not yet clear.
The W2 sports a 4.8" LCD touchscreen, B/G WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, Atom 1.33 GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, TV-out, and a 450 gram weight. It looks to cost around $600 in USD.
