Samsung Unveils New SyncMaster 70 and 80 Series LCDs

I am not a big fan of puffed up stats and specifications on notebooks, LCDs and HDTVs. It's hard enough trying to figure out what the basically worthless refresh rates manufactures quote really mean. Toss in the increasing use of huge dynamic contrast ratio numbers and things get more confusing when you are shopping.

Samsung has unveiled a pair of new LCD monitors in the new SyncMaster 70 and 80 series that boast the world's highest contrast ration. Samsung resisted the urge to go dynamic and simply gives us one static number. Both the 70 and 80 series monitors have 3000:1 static contrast ratios. Both the 70 series F2370H and the 80 series F2380MX are 23-inch screens and if you like, dynamic numbers, the LCDs are good for 150,000:1.

The screens also support 100% of the sRGB color space making the screens appropriate for professional users. The 70 series screen used the Samsung Touch of color design with a transparent neck. The 80 series is white and has an adjustable height with 130mm of travel. The 70 series screen will sell for 397,000 won and the e80 series is 417,000 won.
