The HDD is a 2.5-inch form factor unit using the 6Gbps SAS interface and the drive features enterprise-class self-encryption. The drive is also very power efficient according to Toshiba, which is very important in the enterprise setting.
The drive is the first form Toshiba to offer self-encryption technology. The drive spins at 10,025 rpm and is aimed at use in mid-range volume servers, storage arrays, blade servers, and rack servers. The drive promises 28% less power consumption that competing drives and reduces its spin speed at lower RPM when not in use.
