Toshiba Ships 600 GB 2.5-inch HDD for Enterprise

Toshiba has been producing and selling storage products like HDDs for a long time and offers drives for a myriad of different uses. Toshiba has announced that it is now shipping the highest capacity small form factor HDD for enterprise users around with 600GB of storage space.

The HDD is a 2.5-inch form factor unit using the 6Gbps SAS interface and the drive features enterprise-class self-encryption. The drive is also very power efficient according to Toshiba, which is very important in the enterprise setting.

The drive is the first form Toshiba to offer self-encryption technology. The drive spins at 10,025 rpm and is aimed at use in mid-range volume servers, storage arrays, blade servers, and rack servers. The drive promises 28% less power consumption that competing drives and reduces its spin speed at lower RPM when not in use.
