Florida-based Onstream Media Corporation today announced that it has launched a high-quality live video streaming service for the Blackberry and iPhone platforms.
Of the first customers to use the new platform is Ocean20, a mobile services group that has provided the back-end system for live streaming of rock concerts and other performances.
"Going with Onstream Media was a logical decision for us...Onstream Media enables our customers to expand their audience for streaming rock concerts beyond PCs to hundreds of thousands of smartphones," said Ocean20's Joseph McGowan.
Onstream's structure allows playback of content in such formats as Adobe Flash, H.264, VP6 and Windows Media/VC-1. It is one of few leading-edge services that can actually playback HD content specifically tailored to a mobile device.
