LaCie has pulled the wraps off several new storage devices aimed at professional applications including the LaCie d2 Network 2, 2big Network 2, and the 5big Network 2 devices. All of the storage appliances have similar upgrades for better performance and data security and the difference between the products is in the number of HDDs inside.

The d2 Network 2 has a single disc, the 2big has dual HDDs, and the 5big has five HDDs inside. The drives on the multi HDD units are hot swappable and the 5big supports RAID 6 storage with the 2big offering RAID 1 support. Data access to the drive sis up to 70MB/s and the devices are managed with a widget-based web admin system.

All three of the drives connect to a computer via USB and support Mac and PC systems. The products are all Time Machine compliant for Macs and ship with Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Macs. The 5big storage device also offers a LAN port and can be configured as an iSCSI target client. Price for the new drives starts at $299 for the single drive Network 2 device.
