The Bluetooth SIG has announced that it is bringing Bluetooth tech to the Smart Grid as well. The Smart Grid is the new generation of smart energy devices that allows for two-way communications between smart power meters and devices within the home. Using a Smart Grid the homeowner can keep track of how much power they are using and use data to find devices on the grid using too much power.
Bluetooth SIG is pushing its new Bluetooth low energy tech for makers of in-home meters and monitors. Most Smart Grid users will probably be checking their usage on a mobile phone and Bluetooth tech is already in place. Smart Grids sound very cool and I can’t want to get one set up in my house.
