Toshiba has announced its latest portable PC, the Protege M780. It is a Tablet PC that will come with a ton of advanced functionality under the hood. Its Intel Core processor, DDR3 memory, eSATA/USB combo port, and Windows 7 Professional specifications immediately say that this laptop is no joke.

Unlike other tablet devices, this screen is fully touch-responsive, meaning you don't need a magnetized stylus to operate the on-screen controls. All you need is your finger. It is one of few fully-fledged laptop computers to incorporate multi-touch.

With its 12.1" LED backlit screen and all the additional innards needed to make a Tablet PC run, over a traditional laptop, this is not going to be a slim device but rather one that is more focused on high performance.

I am a huge fan of Tablet PCs, and the addition of a multi-touch compatibility is a very compelling feature for this device.

The M780 will be priced at $1,279 and up.
