Right on schedule, pre-ordered Entourage eDGe's will begin shipping at the end of this week. The actual release date has been pushed back to March, which is when new orders will ship out. E-Reader Info sat down with the CEO of Entourage Systems, as well as the VP of marketing.

The first useful thing learned was that, with both screens activated and in use, the eDGe will have a functional battery life of around 6 hours. The eDGe can still handle 16 hours of full E-Ink, but it is a bit behind both the Adam and the iPad in terms of functional battery life.
It's clear that one of the target audiences of the eDGe is students. This device allows students to record lectures, take notes, and view E-Books of their textbooks at the same time. The name of the Entourage eDGe even panders to this youthful demographic. The 'DG' that is weirdly capitalized in the middle of eDGe stands for 'digital generation'.

The Entourage eDGe definitely wins points for being one of the more unique devices out on the market. Its dual-screen E-Ink/LCD functionality makes it an extremely versatile device. I don't see the eDGe taking the market by storm, but it may just be quirky enough to develop its own fan base.
