Netbooks, MIDs and tablets are about to get a notch more powerful. CNET reports that Intel will unveil the Atom N470 processor, an upgrade to their Pine Trail processor, on Monday. While the current N450 Pine Trail processors pack 1.66 GHz processors, the N470 will clock in at around 1.83 GHz.
That may not seem like a lot, but that much speed can make a big difference when you're talking about itty-bitty netbooks. Every iota of extra processing power you can get is important on smaller machines. This new chip could make a very big splash in the tablet industry.
Monday's announcement will likely be followed by a series of new product announcements and refreshes. I think it's likely we'll see at least a couple of N470 tablets and MIDs unveiled next week.
