120,000 iPads Sold On Friday

This Friday heralded the start of iPad pre-ordering. While we still don't have any word from Apple on their total first weekend sales, we do have a number for the new tablet's Friday sales. SlashGear reports that the iPad sold somewhere in the neighbourhood of 120,000 units on that first day. The WiFi-only, 16GB pad was the biggest seller.

While we're certainly not seeing iPhone-like numbers here, these are very impressive sales nonetheless. Apple made around 75 million on Friday, and they've effectively answered the primary question their product raised in most people's minds. We'd wondered if consumers would be willing to turn out in force for the pad and, lo and behold, they were.
