Microsoft's new online video standard will officially hit the Internet next week, when Silverlight 4 comes out of its "Release Candidate" state and is ready for prime time.
Silverlight 4's Release Candidate was released last month, and it is already being pushed to a full user version.
Microsoft describes the new format as the following: "This latest version of Silverlight delivers hundreds of features and controls that, when combined with the continued innovation in Microsoft’s world-class tools for designers and developers."
Silverlight will also power Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 mobile platform. It will use the same format as full-featured PCs use, which could be a boon to the mobile phone market.
