The day that Nintendo announced a souped-up version of the retail Wii console package, Wal-Mart discounted the existing version by $20.
Next week, a new version of the Wii will launch in the US. This new package will contain everything that the current product contains, in addition to a copy of Wii Sports Resort and the MotionPlus accessory ($50 value).
The new package will retail for the same price as the current units, around $200. Therefore, it's going to be difficult for stores to clear out its existing stock.
Wal-Mart is already being proactive, as it marked down the price of the current Wii down to $179. And to sweeten the pot, it's even adding in the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game for free.
Expect other retailers to begin marking down their existing Wii stock after the new bundle is released next week.
