More Details On The BlackBerry Tablet

Earlier this month we heard the first details of RIM's new tablet computer. The BlackBerry BlackPad was rumored to be BB OS compatible and...that was pretty much it. Now BGR has received some inside info on this new gadget.

The BlackPad will have an 8.9” screen. It will apparently be a “companion” device only, using Bluetooth to connect to your phone's data service or going over WiFi. This tablet is set to launch in December, but the project team is rushing to finish earlier (never a good sign). The BlackPad will be a multimedia focused device; ebooks, movies, browsing, that sort of thing.

Initially, a monochrome version of the BlackPad was in development. Just think, if Apple hadn't rolled out the iPad, RIM would have launched a Kindle killer. Who would have called that one?
