The USB 3.0 connectivity allows the drive to operate at 5Gbps and the drive gets all the power it needs directly from the USB port. Backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 ports lets the drive be used on all computers.
The A80 is water resistant to IPX7 standards allowing it to withstand submersion in up to a meter of water for as long as 30 minutes and still operate. The drive will be offered in 640GB, 500GB, and 320GB capacities. Pricing and availability are unknown at this time.
