Asus has had its Rampage III Extreme mainboard on the market for Intel CPUs for a while now. The board is packed with features for overclocking and connectivity making it a popular choice for enthusiasts.

Asus has announced today that it has crushed 3DMark records using a computer with The ROG Rampage III Extreme mainboard, an Intel Core i7-980X CPU, GeForce GTX 480 video card, and the ROG 5870 Matrix Platinum ATI 5870 chipset. The machine set records for systems using a single CPU.

The rig scored 39,212 on the 3DMark Vantage benchmark at extreme preset. The machine also scored 51,410 in 3DMark Vantage with high preset. Asus was able to break current records in older versions of 3DMark as well using the machine.
