OCZ has announced a couple new SSDs today that promise lots of performance and reliability. The new SSDs use the SandForce SD-1500 controller. The new drives are the Vertex 2 EX and the Vertex 2 Pro.

The difference between the two SSDs is that the Vertex 2 Pro uses MLC NAND while the Vertex 2 EX uses SLC NAND. The Pro version promises 285MB/s read speed and 275MB/sec write speed.

The EX versions of the SSD lists the same read and write performance in the specifications. The EX version with the SLC NAND has ten times the program erase cycles as the pro edition making it more long lived. The SSDs will be offered in 50GB, 100GB, and 200GB capacities.
