If you like a good tablet and the iPad doesn't float your boat, the French eviGroup Paddle tablet is now available for purchase. If you are in the US, you would have to find an importer, but the thing is interesting and more a netbook sans keyboard than an iPad clone.

The Paddle has a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, a 10.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1024 x 600 resolution, and WiFi. Other features include a memory card reader, Windows 7 OS, and it ships with some software installed.

The device starts at 599 euros without that software. The machine measures 260 x 160 x 22 mm and weighs 990g with the battery installed.
