A new Sidekick could be imminent, following the grisly demise of the current generation. T-Mo News reports that their patron carrier has killed the Sidekick and ceased all sales of the Sidekick LX and 2008. In order to salve wounded Sidekick owners, T-Mobile promised that they intend to, "further innovate and raise the bar for the next iteration of the T-Mobile Sidekick."
Project Emerald is believed to be the "next iteration". Imagine an Android smartphone with a Sidekick's form-factor. You could browse and chat at a blistering pace with a 1 GHz Snapdragon and a multi-touch screen. It's an intoxicating vision...and one we've seen absolutely no evidence of, to date. It doesn't hurt to be hopeful, though.
