Retail sales analyst NPD released the US video game sales numbers for June and apparently the new redesigned Xbox 360 pushed Microsoft to the top of the console sales chart.
In May the Nintendo Wii was still in the lead selling 334,000 Wii consoles. The Xbox 360 only sold 194,600 units. In June the Xbox 360 sold 451,700 units, while Nintendo is close on 2nd place with 422,500 units.
The Sony PS3 is on 3rd place with 304,800 units. If you also take portable consoles into account, then Nintendo is still number one. The DS sold a surprising 510,700 units in June.
Video Game hardware sales are up 5%, but overall video game sales are down 6% compared to the same month last year.
On the game side of things, Red Dead Redemption is the best selling game.
