Although the UK still doesn't have quite the breadth of video content on the PS3 that the US has, it may be getting a new service that brings Channel 4's on demand programming directly to the game system.
Users can already turn their PS3 into a digital video recorder and playback TV programs saved to the PS3, and the BBC has its own app available for the system. Now Channel 4 wants to get in on the action.
Reports have surfaced that the 4oD on-demand service will be coming to the PS3 potentially some time later this year. Channel 4 and Sony are reportedly in discussions to broker a deal.
4oD is also likely to come to a special iPad app as well.
The addition of "apps" to the PS3 make the opportunity for this kind of content much more easily realized. It adds a nicer experience for content providers and end users than the static download platform. It can definitely be difficult to find pieces of content on the US PlayStation Video Store.
