We're not far off from seeing the launch of an Asus tablet. Digitimes reports that an 8" 64-grayscale TFT-LCD e-reader will launch in October. The new Asus gadget will launch for under $599 and may be bundled in a special deal, courtesy of some mobile telecom carrier.
Since Asus has no sort of e-reader content delivery system, it is likely that they will end up partnering with something like Barnes & Noble's ebookstore. Even if they set up a solid content deal, Asus is likely to have some issues moving this product. At around $599, it will be priced well above most other e-readers on the market.
