Fuel cell powers 500 homes at once!

When I think of cool and high-tech things, Ohio isn’t the place that jumps to mind. Despite that fact, Ohio is getting the world's largest hydrogen fuel cell that will be placed in Eastlake to power homes during high demand periods.

The fuel cell is made by Ballard Power Systems and produces only water as a byproduct. The fuel cell is capable of providing 1 megawatt of power, which is enough juice for 500 average homes in the area.

Eastlake will use the giant fuel cell to provide power to the residents of the area during the peak demand period of the summer. The fuel cell trial run in Eastlake will last 5-years.
