Qualcomm is about to rain some magic down upon us puny mortals. Mark Frankel, VP of product management (Computerworld), has stated that his company will ship a QSD8672 dual-core processor with a total of 1.5 GHz of horsepower behind it. We can expect products to launch early next year.
Especially pro-active vendors could have products with this chip out by Christmas, which means we could conceivably see a smartphone, tablet or ultra-light with this powerful engine in time for the holiday.
The QSD8672 can handle 1080p with ease. It'll have integrated HDMI. as well as DDR2 and DDR3 memory interfaces. With luck, these babies will be as ubiquitous in a year as the 1 GHz Snapdragon processor is now.
