This is just the latest update for Netflix's instant streaming service, which is already available on the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, iPad, set-top boxes, and numerous Internet-connected TV models.
Netflix was a bit late to the iPhone party. Competing service Hulu Plus launched its iPhone app a couple months ago, but the service itself remains open only to users who have received an invitation.
Undoubtedly fixated at the top of the premium video streaming market, Netflix has swelled its userbase over the last year because of its presence across so many devices, making it painless for users to watch movies and TV shows as often as they want for a low monthly fee - plans start at $8.99 per month.
The new iPhone app allows streaming over Wi-Fi as well as mobile 3G data networks. The next step for the online streaming giant will hopefully be Android.
