A new iPod touch could be very near indeed. BGR has received an official invitation from Apple for an event on September 1 in San Francisco. The invitation hinted that it would have something to do with music, which most likely means a new series of iPods or a new generation iPod touch.
Previous rumors of a September 7 Apple event were apparently off slightly. Those rumors pointed towards the launch of a new TV "renting" scheme for iTunes, as well as the launch of a fourth-generation iPod touch. I guess we'll know in just a few days...
