Apple is holding its media related September 1st event today at 10am PDT. There is a possibility that Apple will unveil a new Apple TV box. As reported before the Apple TV (iTV) rumors talk about an iOS device with a low price point of $99.
Bloomberg reports that they have three sources claiming that Apple will offer Netflix movie rental service on the new Apple TV. Netflix support would a huge additional asset on a new Apple TV. Netflix is already available on many other devices including game consoles, TVs and Blu-ray players. There is a bigger chance for Apple to land a massive hit with a new low-cost Apple TV with Netflix at least in the US.
Still the real value of a new Apple TV would be iOS and access to the complete App catalog including mobile Safari.
We have to wait another couple of hours to know if Apple is really releasing a new Apple TV today. As reported Apple will finally live stream the event on the web.
