XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve for iPad Review

This week I have looked at several new cases from XtremeMac for the iPad. Today I am looking at the last of the new offerings from the company and it is called the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve. This little sleeve is well padded and has a zipper closure to keep the iPad safe in transit. Read on for all for the details.

Specifications

The XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve is a form-fitting sleeve that is covered with nylon on the outside and a fuzzy bright orange material on the inside. The sleeve has a zipper closure and sells for $49.99.

In Use

One of the big issues I have with sleeves for the iPad is that while they offer protection for your gadget in transit, when you need to use the iPad you have to take it out of the sleeve. That means that if you drop the iPad while you are using it you have no protection. That really sucks. The bad part is that most sleeves are so snug fitting that you can't get a case on your iPad to protect it in use and still use the sleeve for padding over the screen when you are traveling.

I am glad to say that the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve has enough space to fit my iPad with the XtremeMac Tuffwrap I reviewed yesterday installed. It’s a snug fit and you won't get anything else inside that sleeve, but it fits with some pushing and a bit of fiddling about. That means when I am on the road the iPad has protection and then when I take the iPad out I still have a sleeve that will help protect the iPad if I drop it.

The XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve on its own is very well built with the same geometric pattern on it that the other gear from the company had. The zipper is thick and strong with large bright orange pulls that are easy to find and work. The inside of the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve is made from a fuzzy and bright orange fleece material that is very soft and will prevent scratches on any surface of the iPad.

Like most sleeves that fleece tends to grip the screen protector and the Tuffwrap on my iPad making it a bit of work to get the thing out of the sleeve when you want to use it. Even with the Tuffwrap enclosed iPad inside the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve, it is still very portable and not bulky at all. You could easily fit the sleeve into a carryon or backpack when on the go.

The zipper enclosure opens wide for easy access and the case has great internal visibility thanks to the bright orange color. The XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve is a great sleeve that iPad users will find protects the iPad well.

Verdict

Pros

  • Good looks
  • Well built
  • Soft lining

Cons

  • Expensive

Conclusion

The only real issue some may have with the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve is that it's nearly $50. Other than the price, the XtremeMac Nylon Sleeve is a fantastic product.
